raindrops keep falling on my head

I love the sounds of rain, especially in this dry season! There's nothing like opening the door to the smell of rain-drenched grass. One of the best things in life is to sleep in on a rainy night and wake up to the freshness of a brand new day that is just waiting to be lived in.

Whenever it rains, this song never fails to cheer me up!

Raindrops are fallin' on my head
And just like the guy whose feet are too big for his bed
Nothin' seems to fit
Those raindrops are fallin' on my head and they keep fallin'

/ G - Gmaj7 - / G7 - C - / Bm7 E7 Bm7 E7 / Am7 - - - D7sus D7 /

So I just did me some talkin' to the sun
And I said I didn't like the way he got things done
Sleepin' on the job
Those raindrops are fallin' on my head and they keep fallin'

But there's one thing I know
The blues they send to meet me won't defeat me
It won't be long till happiness steps up to greet me

/ G - Gmaj7 - / C - D D7 Bm7 - / - - E7 - Am7 - D7sus4 D7 D7sus4 D7 /

Raindrops keep fallin' on my head
But that doesn't mean my eyes will soon be turnin' red
Cryin's not for me
'Cause I'm never gonna stop the rain by complainin'
Because I'm free, nothin's worryin' me

well-known, indeed!

"O Lord, You have searched me and known me. You know my sitting down and my rising up. You understand my thought afar off. You comprehend my path and my lying down. And you are acquainted with all my ways."

I'm a well-known person. God knows me inside out. Even the numbers of hair on my head.

"Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; It is high, I cannot attain it."

Suddenly I feel overwhelmed by the thought that He knows my every thought & every emotion. I feel like I'm being watched every moment. As if He doesn't miss any detail that goes on in my life.

But I'm also aware that He's such a loving God, and because I'm highly valued by Him, He's always looking out for me. Never leaving nor forsaking me, even when things seem bleak and dreary.

So it's a comforting thought to know that I'm a well-loved, well-known person!

my annual date with eve

It's always great meeting up with old friends. So much to catch up, so much to share, so much to bond over.

My annual catching up date with Eve C left me with a tinge of feel-good happiness. I call her my childhood best friend, coz we were each other's best friends in lower primary. We had this exercise book where we took turns to write stuff in. I can't remember much about the contents, but when I took it out while packing my boxes for shifting, I remember seeing hand-drawn pictures, little cute stickers and a list of things we wanted to have when we grew up. I might still have it around, if my papa hasn't gotten his hands on it yet!

So, there we were, 2 girls who haven't seen each other for a year, trying to catch up as much as possible over dinner. Our usual agenda would be to meet up over a weekend, have lunch, walk around, share stuff and exchange birthday presents. This was usually done in the beginning of the year since her birthday is in January and mine, 2 months later. This year was her final year in Med School, and yesterday was like the only day she could spare for our date!

We quickly picked up where we last left, and updated each other on things that revolved around our social and spiritual lives, our families & friends, along with our hopes & dreams. It was really encouraging to hear that even though we had walked separate paths after I shifted from KL, we still walked hand-in-hand with God. And it must've been God who binded us together even while I was away doing my degree course, and she trying to pursue her dreams of being a doctor.

We both agreed that last year, we kept in touch more often than before. It was a trying period for her and I tried to be as comforting a friend as I could. Since she was away in Seremban, we kept in touch through SMS' and emails. I'm pretty sure it can only be the love of God which carried us through this.

For someone who has lived all over the country all her life, it's heart-warming to have a friend who's been so loyal all these while. I've made countless number of friends in various states, and sometimes it's so hard to maintain contact with all of them. So for those that I still do, I treasure their friendship lots. :)

me, a guy?

Got this in my email recently...

"Umm, have a confession to make... I have been catching some of your random flakes for awhile now. Accidentally bumped into your blog in December 2004, thought it was a guy's blog, gave it a wide berth, the next day during Headstart Shih Chung told me that was your blog. Didn’t read your whole blogs though, only a few catchy ones, such as your misadventure with a cockroach interloper and the amorous advance of an 6-year old. Thought the last one was pretty funny although he probably needs to learn (the hard way) that a woman's heart - a costliest thing - is not to be won with the reckless dash of a boy, as a child might ask for a toy."

Gosh, if I'm a guy, that makes me a gay! Coz later he added...

"Hehe, I also thought it was a gay's blog. Read about Jeff, you see
:)"

When I asked if it was because I thought like a guy in my blog...

"And nay, don't think you have a tendency to think like a guy. Quite a
lot of expressions and feelings in your blogs, most guys wouldn't do
that."

LOL!

not so romantic after all

When I was about Grade 4 or 5 learning piano, my teacher got me this book called "Short Romantic Pieces For Piano".

Short Romantic Pieces For Piano

Oh boy, I thought, I'm going to play like Richard Clayderman and wow people with passionate amorous pieces!

As each lesson went by, I realised, hey, they don't sound so romantic wan?!

Later only did I find out that the book was a collection of pieces from the Romantic period :p

prince charles to wed camilla

There was much buzz over the latest royal engagement these few days.

Since part of my job was to inspect the local newspapers for insurance-related news, I had the opportunity to read about the impending marriage.

It was with amusement that I saw one picture of Camilla (not the one below, I couldn't source the exact one online!) which captioned her as "a handsome woman".
Camilla Parker Bowles showing off her diamond engagement ring

My colleague who had been following the latest news scoffed and said that was the word they used to describe horses!

Hmm... how polite :>

By the way, The Star Online ran a poll to see if the public approved of the marriage and by the looks of it, Camilla has an uphill task to contend with the iconic legacy Princess Di left behind.

so you would come

Some of the best songs that resonate in my heart are those written with simple words but with profound meanings. One of them is "So you would come", written by Russell Fragar. Beautiful melody, heart-moving song.

Before the world began, you were on His mind
And every tear you cry, is precious in His eyes
Because of His great love, He gave His only Son
Everything was done so you would come

Nothing you can do could make Him love you more
And nothing that you've done could cause Him to close the door
Because of His great love, He gave His only Son
Everything was done so you would come

Come to the Father though your gift is small
Broken hearts, broken lives, He will take them all
The power of the Word, The power of His blood
Everything was done so you would come

happy valentine's day!

as cynical as i am towards all these (too much) hype and commercialism of the lovey dovey day, i'm quite a romantic deep down heh! they say that you don't have to shower your loved ones with attention just on one single day, but i guess this is a good reason to impress her with flowers and chocolates, and other mood-inducing gifts. also good reason to go all out with the plastic, whatwith price of roses shooting up to hundreds of RM for a dozen of 'em.

so here's wishing all of you a happy valentine's day! for those with hot dates tonight, enjoy yourselves ya! for those spending time with your loved ones, cherish the moment & appreciate them while they're still around :) for those with nothing else better to do, you can send me a valentine card at any of these sites :p here, or here also can.

an eventful trip up north

i'm back, people! that is, after 7 hours on the road :/

went up ipoh with a bunch of friends from the last iBridge camp, and realised that half of the world probably went up ipoh as well. met up with many other ex-campers, and for me, my uni friends as well.

our excellent ipoh hosts took us to some of the more popular eating places ipoh has to offer. but more often than not, they were already filled with people from the rest of the world.

we also went up hiking bkt kledang. but with only 4 hours of sleep the night before, some of us could only manage to go up halfway. so half of the group went all the way up to the peak, while the other half (like me hehe) went down and had fun splashing water at the waterfall. :D

since ipoh is famed for its makan places, we spent most of the time eating (and waiting for people to finish eating). at one of our eating binges, we managed to catch michelle yeoh at this food court opposite woolley's. i think we got too excited that a celebrity like her would actually dine at a food court, because the rest of the people didn't seem to make such a big fuss. and we really wanted to take a photo with her and get her to sign an autograph for us, but in the end we decided not to invade her privacy :p

we also spent loads of time playing mafia, and i must say it was pretty addictive! been hearing so much about it since last year's camp, and when i finally got the chance to play it, i must say i enjoyed it lots!

so it was wif a bit of sadness that we had to say goodbye to ipoh, the food and not to forget, our hospitable hosts who made sure we were well fed & comfy throughout the whole stay.

and yes, the journey back home took us 7 hours! we had to weave in and out of the highway back to the trunk roads in a bid to escape the traffic. well, minus the toilet break, dinner at bidor's famed duck noodles and supper at rawang, it was about 6 hours altogether. having said that, it was a memorable trip nonetheless. to all the people involved, a big thank you for an eventful cny ;)

credit limit

I received a letter from my credit card company the other day. It states with pleasure that due to (and to thank me for) my loyalty, I would be rewarded with a higher credit limit. Wowee, I can't believe this - I'm going to have more opportunities to land myself in debt.

I'm looking forward to swiping my credit card, see the figures go up in my monthly statements and feel the angst of oweing them lots of money! Don't you just love these people? They have a way of making it sound like you've gotten the best deal on earth. :>

the year of the rooster

Things are pretty slow moving today. Smooth roads and holiday mood. Wish every working day was like this! Reason why I'm here in the office today :D

Will be off from tomorrow onwards, CNY mood is slowly building up. Have been helping mum clean the house a bit and put up the decor. Must remember to spring clean my room too. Don't know what the area behind the PC hold! It's been ages since I crawled underneath the table and cleaned the cables.

Tomorrow we'll be having the family reunion dinner at my uncle's place. The extended family has since grown until we can't fit into granma Lee's place anymore. Methinks we have the productive genes. I can't catch up with the younger cousins - I find myself asking their names everytime I meet them. Haha :p

The usual "concerned" questions and looks will start to come in. Thank God I have older cousins, so I'm not their target...yet! Oh well, no worries there. Time to makan & collect angpaus :)

Here's wishing all of you a blessed & wonderful Chinese New Year. Drive safe & eat lots ya!!!

extreme rollercoaster

My life almost turned me upside down last Wednesday. I thought I was going to be out of a job. From feelings of shock, surprise and disappointment, it gradually turned to frustration and uncertainty, and unexpectedly ended on a high note of bliss this week.

I found out that my faithful roommate of 4 years left me a glowing testimonial on Friendster. I really didn't expect that from her, knowing how frequent she logged in. It was really sweet stuff, and something to cheer me up, after what has happened. The fact that she didn't know what I was going through made it all the sweeter.

Boss gave appraisal after that, and I found out I was in a "good" quadrant, even though the scores didn't state so. None of us know where we stand performance-wise, and the scores don't translate directly into our performance reviews. But a colleague and I swapped insider tips, and found out :D

Then later that night, some friends who were playing futsal in the neighbourhood gave a surprise ring and asked me out for supper. Met up with more new people from their church, and had pretty good chats over ice lemon tea and ikan bakar.

And today, while driving to work, I received an sms from a friend who hardly calls. He said he missed my verbiage, but missed me more la. haha.. Well, I messaged him back and said his thoughtful message came at the right time.

So, all the bad things that happened last week were balanced by a multiple of good things this week.

Ah yes, a case of extreme emotional rollercoaster. These are the things that make up life. If not, it would have been boring, ya :)

Well, I can't say much at the moment, nothing's come to me in black & white yet. But I must say, I survived! And like He promised, He was always there for me :)
